Texas Voucher Initiative

Texas has incredible biodiversity – in fact, with over 6000 species of vascular plants and hundreds of non-vascular plant species, it is the third most biodiverse state in the country! Documenting this biodiversity throughout the state is critical for preserving our species and understanding how communities change through time. However, we have estimated that MOST species from MOST counties have never been collected!

We need YOUR to help us complete your county’s specimen record. This is your chance to be a part of our citizen scientist initiative by collecting and sending us specimens from your corner of the state. Find your county in the map below or search for your county to access our wish list for your county. Not a botanical expert? No problem! Learn how to collect research-grade specimens here and get in touch if we can assist you in any way.
